Fridays at the Tavern: Candied Pecans

Hosting your RPG group this winter? These are a festive and addictive treat for your players.

We want RPG sessions at your place to be the stuff of legend. That's why, on Fridays we write a new post and offer you the recipe. This week it's a crunchy sweet batch of candied pecans that have a bit of a bite.

RPG Adventurer’s Pecans

This snack is airy, crispy, and exactly what you need to keep your mind on your campaign. They make a perfect addition to your adventuring rations, offering a sweet treat after vanquishing terrifying monsters. Celebrate your victories with these tasty little treasures!

Snack Components:

1 C white sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp salt

½ tsp ground ginger (or more to taste)

¼ tsp ground cayenne pepper (optional)

1 egg white

1 Tbsp water

1 lb. pecan halves

Snack Actions:

Preheat the oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mix sugar, cinnamon, salt, ginger, and optional cayenne in a bowl and set aside.

In a medium bowl, whisk egg white and water until frothy. Fold pecans into the egg white mixture. Mix pecan mixture into the sugar mixture until evenly coated. Spread coated pecans onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes, or until pecans are evenly browned.

This recipe was shared with us by our friend Jexa and was published in our Critical Cooking fan cookbook.
