Unboxing October 2024 Dungeon Crate

Let’s Unpack the October 2024 Dungeon Crate

Werewolf! Where wolf? There wolf. October is one of our favorite months. We fill our 31 days with horror movies and swap out our regular RPG monsters for werewolves, vamps, and other classic villains. In honor of spooky season, we packed our Dungeon Crates full of loot that’s devilishly fun (and many exclusives that you can’t find anywhere but Dungeon Crate) plus we included one of our original adventures that’s sure to be a howling good time. Let’s walk you through what we put in October’s Dungeon Crate.

Werewolf & Full Moon Coaster Set of 3 – Dungeon Crate Exclusive

A snarling werewolf visage and frightening quote make this full moon coaster set perfect for setting a horror mood around your game table and protecting it from drink rings. These heavy-duty paper coasters are cool enough to double as inspiration tokens. But wait! We also gave members…

Full Moon Inspiration Token – Timmy’s Treehouse & Dungeon Crate

We designed this token so GMs would be able to give it as inspiration to a player who made battling through our October adventure a ripping good time. It’s realistic full moon design that reverses to a full moon fever design makes it great for all kinds of horror RPGs. We partnered with our friends at Timmy’s Treehouse to bring you this original double-sided inspiration token.

Giant Wererat Mini – Reaper Miniatures

To complement the October adventure, we included a totally ripped giant wererat mini figure from Reaper’s Classic Bones line. This ferocious rat beast was sculpted by Julie Guthrie and is part of the Bones Classic line of RPG miniatures. No priming is required on this detailed mini, it came ready to paint up or play as-is.

Bonesylvanians - Lon – Reaper Miniatures

Everything is as cute as it is creepy here in Bonesylvania. Lon is a Chibi style werewolf mini with a fierce grin and sharp claws. We included him to help members play our October one-shot, any horror RPG that needs a werewolf, or to display on their desk. Lon was sculpted by artist Julie Guthrie for the Dark Heaven Bonesylvanians line.

Set of 10 Red Battle Splats – Dungeon Crate Exclusive

Battle Splats are a great way to keep track of fallen enemies on the game table. These blood red acrylic splatters come in a set of 10 and let you revel in after-battle glory. To use in game play, simply replace a fallen foe with a marker and keep your game table clean while still admiring the carnage.

We have a whole line of splatter tokens in a variety of colors so you can mark your fallen foes no matter what color they ooze.

Lucky D20

Roll with advantage! We stuffed a lucky D20 into a blood red velvet bag so members could break it out for special rolls.

The Howling Moon ShadowDark encounter for level 5 by Wayne Brekke – Dungeon Crate Exclusive

Our original horror adventure this month was written by our founder Wayne Brekke for the ShadowDark roleplaying game platform. Like all of our adventures, it’s set in our sandbox world of Halcyon (or wherever your campaign is set). While designed for ShadowDark, with a few easy adjustments this encounter can be used to play nearly any horror or fantasy RPG platform.

Here’s what adventurers are up against:

A sinister curse has befallen the quaint village of Lunaris. Under the light of the full moon, some of the townsfolk transform into ravenous lycanthropes, driven by an insatiable hunger and an animalistic madness. Your adventurers stumble into Lunaris just as the sun goes down and are asked to help the village break the curse before the full moon rises. Are you up to the challenge?

Bonus Items

Each month we add a little something extra into each crate. This month it was another full-length adventure booklet, horror stickers, and a set of our popular random room encounters.

Access to the October 2024 Digital Dungeon Crate

We started our Digital Dungeon Crate several years ago because we knew that not everyone had the luxury of playing tabletop RPGs around a table. Since then, each month we give all members — whether they get the digital-only version or get the full physical crate — access to our fully loaded Digital Dungeon Crate. Downloads included a PDF of that month’s encounter, maps, and more.

Secret Code = 10% Off the Dungeon Crate Store

All members are emailed an access code for the Digital Dungeon Crate, which is also good for 10% off our online store, all month long. We’ve got all the good stuff in our online store. We offer a library of full-length adventures, one-shot encounters, traps, charts, and random room encounters. We also have a hoard of minis, a worthy collection of dice sets in all types and sizes, metal fantasy coins, smart game play tokens you’ll love to use, RPG and Rennie and LARPer lifestyle gear, and more. Many of our items are exclusive to Dungeon Crate. Members simply shop from the online store, enter that month’s secret code at check-out, and 10% rolls off their total. It’s just as easy as using a cantrip.
