The Shady Lady Tavern to be exact. It’s owned by Bonnie LaBlanc, a former rogue, and is located on the banks of the Vine River just outside of Hammersvauld (in Dungeon Crate’s sandbox world of Halcyon). The Shady Lady is known for the food, whiskey, and discreteness for its sometimes “shady” patrons.
This super easy stovetop popcorn recipe is a house favorite. It’s easy to make, feeds a hungry horde of adventurers, and ensures you will be the hero of epic game days.
Shady Lady’s Stovetop Popcorn Recipe for RPGs
Snack Components:
1/4 C Coconut oil (cold pressed & organic)
½ C Popcorn kernels (we like Iowa popcorn but Orville Redenbacher is good too)
Kosher salt to taste
Optional Toppers: melted butter, garlic salt, Everything but the Bagel Seasoning, powdered parmesan cheese, or sugar and cinnamon blend. See our favorite below.
Snack Actions:
Melt coconut oil in a large Dutch oven over medium high heat. Add 4 popcorn kernels, swirl to coat with oil, and cover. When all 4 kernels have popped, add in the remaining kernels. Cover pot and shake frequently to prevent burning. Remove pot from heat when you can count 2 seconds between pops.
Pour popped corn into a large bowl and immediately sprinkle with salt and other toppings of your choice.

Coconut oil is the secret ingredient idea that we stole from movie theaters. They’ve been using it for decades. It will give your home a fresh cooked popcorn smell that is amazing. If you or any of your guests are allergic to coconut, substitute with olive oil.
Our favorite seasoning mix: 1 1/2 tsp. Everything but the Bagel Seasoning + 1 tsp. coarse kosher salt ground together in a mortar & pestle.
