Unboxing December 2022 Dungeon Crate
Huzzah and welcome to December 2022! We’re always ready for adventure but have made our dungeon halls especially festive this year and are ready to make merry. Wondering what you get in a Dungeon Crate? Read on to get a sample. We’ll walk you through what we included in the December 2022 Dungeon Crate.
We didn’t create ornaments last year and we heard some grumblings so this year we partnered with small maker Project Cuts and Burns to offer a set of 2 ornaments that are exclusive to Dungeon Crate. While the designs – a D20 and double dragon – are more RPG decor than Christmas ornament you can definitively hang these festive wooden beauties from your Christmas tree and then move them to the window of your gaming room or heck, even your rearview mirror.
We figured folks could paint and/or play as-is the Desert Thing miniature figure from Reaper Miniatures for the original adventure we created for December or any other fantasy RPG that needs a deadly foe. This beast was sculpted by Bob Ridolfi and is part of the Bones line of minis.
What’s better than one mini? More minis! That’s why we added a mystery mini figure to the December crate. You can never have too many minis (say THAT three times fast). We were head-over-heels about the sculpt on these creatures. Some are monsters, some are player characters, all are detailed and ready to be painted or played as-is.
Perfect for dice goblins, we included a full set of polyhedral dice in a festive blue velvet and gold bag. We knew this full set of polyhedral dice would make a perfect addition to your ever-growing mountain of math rocks.
This month, we offered an original full-length dual adventure, The Demon of Lyndwurm Creek, written by James Rodehaver. This level 6 adventure was designed for Pathfinder 2E and includes parenthetical modifications so you can play it in the 5th edition of the world’s oldest RPG too. The adventure booklet is full color, illustrated, and includes a detailed map inside.
Here’s what your adventurer’s are up against: A small yet prosperous farming community in a remote area of northeast Halcyon is plagued by a terrible spirit that consumes the fear of its victims. They call for the aid of heroes. What the heroes don’t know is that the call has gone out before, and those who respond were never heard from again.
Another Dungeon Crate exclusive, we included a magical item stat card to complement the adventure. It’s a short sword said to be imbued with a late warrior’s uncanny ability to lead comrades into battle. The full-color illustrated card gives players a visual of what they’re up against and the back includes both Pathfinder 2E and D&D 5E stats to give GMs a quick reference.
Since James made up the big baddie for this adventure, this Lyndwurm Terror stat card has the vital stats you need to fight this beastie. It’s large, undead, and all kinds of nasty. Use this full-color illustrated card to immerse players in the adventure. Flip it over to find Pathfinder 2E and D&D 5E stats for the GM.
We were channeling our inner Santa so added even more bonus items than usual into this crate. But each month we add a fun bonus item or two to inspire and delight.
Last but not least, we gave all members — whether they just get the digital version or get the physical crate — access to our fully loaded Digital Dungeon Crate. Downloads included a PDF of the adventure, map, stat cards, and a BONUS one-shot called Krampus Carol.
You may not know: this code also gives members 10% off our online store, all month long. We’ve got a host of minis, dice and dice sets, coins, tokens, RPG lifestyle gear, full-length adventures, one-shot encounters, traps, random room encounters, and so much more. Many of our items are exclusive to Dungeon Crate! Members simply shop from the online store, enter their secret code at check-out, and 10% rolls off their total. It’s as easy as using your favorite cantrip.
