We were so excited to start 2024, which just happens to be the Year of the Dragon and the year of our 8th birthday! Inspired by the Chinese New Year, we filled our January Dungeon Crates with fierce dragon-inspired RPG goodies plus a fun plot twist DnD 5E one-shot.
Dragon’s Hoard Tote Bag - Dungeon Crate Exclusive
January’s Featured Item for January was a fun and handy bag of holding with an adorably selfish fire-breathing red dragon protecting their hoard of treasure. The bag is made of water-resistant polypropylene to protect gaming gear and dragon treasure alike. Stuff this bag with all your RPG loot and take it to game days or fold it up and take it with you to friendly local game shops, farmer’s markets, and cons. It has 22” handles for easy carrying.
Dragon Notebook - Dungeon Crate Exclusive
We want our members to always be able to show off their fierce RPG lifestyle so we included a practical and cool notebook. We figured folks could use this dragon-fueled notebook to keep track of game play events. The 5x7” notebook has 70 sheets of white, lined paper (FSC-certified paper with soy-based ink) and boasts an original dragon and D20 design on the cover.
3 Mystery RPG Minis
Dungeon Crate members get a collection of minis this month. Our members love minis and we do too! People could paint up the minis or leave them as-is (some sport bold colors right out of the bag). They could use the minis to play this month’s one-shot or any other fantasy TTRPG.

Handy tip: stash these bookmarks in your monster manual and use them to see how far the destruction rolls. They have a dragon scale design on one side with handy lines for notes.
Dragon Eye Bouncy Balls
Roll those eyes, dragon! Once we found these colorful dragon eye bouncy balls, we jumped at the chance to toss one into each crate. Our cats love them (and hey, cats are basically wee furry dragons anyway) and we do too! They’ve got mega bounce and a realistic vibe.
Original Level 1 DnD 5E Encounter: Raiders of the Deep Dark
We always include an original encounter in our crates and January’s one-shot was Raiders of the Deep Dark, a first level one-shot by Dungeon Doodles. It was designed for DnD 5E but with a few adjustments it can be used to play nearly any fantasy RPG.
Here’s what adventurer’s were up against: A stolen idol currently resides in a cave in the Broken Oak Mountains, North of the Wild Lands. A tribe of wildlings is in need of strong warriors to get in, retrieve the idol for them, and get out alive. Prepare for a plot twist!
Random Room Encounter: Hermit’s Tower
A favorite tabletop RPG exclusive from Dungeon Crate, random room encounters are a quick way to up the adventure in your game play. Slip this Hermit’s Tower encounter into nearly any existing campaign or use it by itself for a quickie game and watch what happens.
