Unboxing the April 2021 Dungeon Crate
April was all about the staff picks. We gave the whole crew a chance to pick and choose items for the crate, giving members an assortment of adventuring goodies to load up their bag of holding. Let’s dig in and unbox our April 2021 Dungeon Crate.
Atmar’s Adventure Compass Coin - Norse Foundry
Orient an adventuring party and always find true north on any dungeon or world map with an adventure compass coin. It’s machined of zinc alloy and is 4mm thick for some heft so it feels good in the hand. Our fearless leader, Wayne chose this compass coin. We got an assortment so our members got one with a detailed dragon, pirate, or classic design.
Critical Squeeze Dragon
Stress levels so high you feel like breathing fire? Inhale and take your stress out on this dude. His tough red dragonhide can take it. Perfect for your desk, whether it’s still at home or back at the office. The words: Critical Squeeze, are on the bottom so you could also use this red dragon on your game mat. This pick was from our Treasury Dragon, Jexa, who keeps our stress levels low by being delightful.
14.78ml Paint - Reaper Miniatures
We’ve given our members SO many minis over the years, now we finally gave them paint! We appreciate the quality of Reaper paints, which are highly pigmented and offer a matte finish. The paints are water soluble and the dropper design of the bottle makes it easy to use with an airbrush or paint brush. We chose some dead useful hues from Reaper’s core colors line.
This pick is by our favorite artist, Dungeon Doodles, who brings color to our crates and Monday morning meetings.
Razormouth #44026 - Reaper Miniatures
A gaping maw filled with teeth means this razormouth mini is clearly ready to brawl. It’s a detailed mini that was sculpted by Chris Lewis for the Bones Black line, can easily be modified to get just the look you want, and is ready to paint, no priming needed. This is Rob’s choice. He’s not only a founding member and guest writer, he’s also Jexa’s hubby.
Gold on Pearl Green Twelve-sided Dice - Double Six Dice
The iconic D6 has evolved. This premium twelve-sided dice is marked one through six twice. What makes it special? It rolls better than a cube, increasing randomness and anticipation, plus it’s hand-poured and made in small batches. The Shady Lady chose this gold on pearl green beauty as she knows luck is a dice roll and wishes everyone high rolls, unless they’re pit against her.
Cosplay Elf Ears
If you’ve seen us on FB and IG Live, you’ve seen us wearing our elf ears. We thought it would be fun to give members their own pair of pointy ears. No joke, we strut around town sporting these soft, comfortable latex elf ears. Color doesn’t match your skin or your character’s look? Fix that with makeup and then wash it off with gentle soap and water. Or, check out our Facebook because Jexa shared a video of how to go for a more permanent fix by using Rit Dye.
D&D Stickers
Jexa is the queen of discovering RPG lifestyle treasures. She rolled a nat 20 with the D&D stickers we added into April’s crate. We love stickers and know your members do, too. We show off our RPG lifestyles by sticking them to our laptops, cars, and GM screens.
DC Exclusive - Throw Back Encounters - Staff Picks
Like any adventuring party that’s been together through countless battles and celebrations, we sometimes sit around the tavern and wax nostalgic for the legendary battles from days of old. Which is why we decided to let Dungeon Crate crew members unearth their favorite encounters to share with members. So many new members haven’t gotten a taste of these adventures so we loaded people up.
Wayne’s pick: Horror on the High Seas + White Fangs Red Seas by Wayne Brekke
Laurie’s pick: Mechanized Manor Pathfinder/5E adventure by James Rodehaver
Jexa’s pick: Their Fungal Servants by Evil Floyd + Lost Tomb of Seketon by Kevin Coffey
Dungeon Doodles: Customize Yer Own Dungeon Tile Set
Rob’s Pick: Tavern Tales by Rob Knobbe
Kevin’s Pick: Wondrous Items Deck Chart by Tim Schultz
Floyd’s Pick: Voltan Deck Chart by Wayne Brekke
DC Exclusive - Monster and Magical Item or Spell Crate Card
We gave members the original stat cards that coordinate with their encounter or adventure. Each card offers stats for the creature, item, or spell and features an original full-color image from Dungeon Doodles so you know exactly what you’re dealing with. Members can use the cards to help play their encounter and keep them around to either add menace or help your case in any other fantasy RPG adventure.
Free Digital Crate Access
Have you heard about our Digital Dungeon Crate? At only $9.95 per month, it’s a modestly priced digital subscription that offers pdfs of not only that month’s encounters and stat cards, but also any coordinating maps, and a slew of other digital goodies. Anyone signed up for a physical crate gets full access to the Digital Dungeon Crate, too!
We also give all members 10% off our online store all month long. They just shop from our online treasury, at check-out they enter that month’s secret digital crate code, which we emailed them, and 10% disappears from their total.
