Unboxing the February 2021 Dungeon Crate

Dear adventurer, we won’t get mushy, but we do want to wish you a happy February and let you know that we heart you.

It’s always been our goal to deliver to your castle doors a little bit of the excitement you can find on the convention floor, which seems even more important since no one knows if we’ll be able to have any in-person conventions again this year.

Let’s dig in and find out what was included in February’s Dungeon Crate.

Formorian Giant #77416 - Reaper Miniatures

He’s a big, ugly cuss. Once you snap this giant together, you can paint him up (or ask someone else to do it for you), and use him to play this month’s encounter or any adventure that requires a giant’s touch. This highly detailed polymer mini that was sculpted by Jason Wiebe comes from the Bones Dark Heaven line. It’s easy to assemble and is ready for you to paint.

Death Dog #77407 - Reaper Miniatures

They say two heads are better than one. If so, and ripping and shredding are what’s required, this double-headed death dog must be the best. This highly detailed polymer mini was sculpted by Julie Guthrie and is part of the Bones Dark Heaven line. It’s ready to be painted, no priming required.

Crystal Glass Gaming Stones - Chessex

These gems are a stylish way to mark wounds, spells, show conditions, and add shimmer and shine to your treasure horde. With at least 40 translucent glass gaming stones in each tube, you’ll have enough to do it all. Which color did you get: light blue, purple, or red?

Dice Pencils - Norse Foundry

Toss one or more of these six-sided wands of writing on your game table and check the pips near the eraser for the result. The set includes 12 pencils, each imbued with its own magical power and with a matching colored eraser.

Dungeon Crate Exclusive - Worth a Hill of Beans Encounter by George Shepard

This month’s original encounter is another giant-sized, quick adventure written by George Shepard. It’s suitable for sixth level characters and, while designed with the fifth edition of the world’s most popular roleplaying game in mind, with a few modifications, it can be used in nearly any fantasy RPG.

Here’s a sneak peek into what your party will encounter: Hill giants have burgled several warehouses and taken over a nearby junkyard at the behest of their chief. They’re using unusually cunning tactics, causing havoc, and have yet to be discovered by local law enforcement. Is your adventuring party up to the challenge?

Dungeon Crate Exclusive - Hill Giant Yob Monster Card

This card has a full-color image and stats for a large hill giant with chaotic evil alignment. Use the stats for this giant to play our February encounter, Worth a Hill of Beans, or any big adventure.

Dungeon Crate Exclusive - Satchel of Life Til Death Magical Item Card

Another DC exclusive stat card, this one lets you discover the attributes of this wondrous, very rare item. Use it to play our encounter, Worth a Hill of Beans, or in any campaign where you might need some plant power.

Dungeon Crate Exclusive - Tavern Tales Deck Chart by Rob Knobbe

Break out any standard deck of cards to use this tabletop RPG exclusive from Dungeon Crate. Pick a card, any card, and then use the chart to add some pop culture spice to your tavern downtimes. It’s a mix of simple diversions to pepper into your tavern time and more complex options that you could run with for a few hours of fun.

Dungeon Crate Exclusive - Mountain Dungeon Art Print by Bodie Hartley

We are proud to present this original print from artist Bodie Hartley. Bodie is an illustrator originally from Australia and currently residing in the Netherlands. He writes and illustrates small books, some are “pick your path” style adventure stories. He also produces content for tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons.

He loves to spend his days creating illustrated content for people to use in their TTRPG games. His creations usually fall somewhere between sinister and whimsical. He loves classic fantasy tales and exploring the clichés and tropes that make the fantasy genre what it is.

Rivalo’s Guide to Hunting Wyverns by James Rodehaver

Flesh out world lore for your campaigns with this guide. This card is from an ongoing series of articles written by James Rodehaver. It’s a fun read that gives a deeper understanding of how and why to hunt wyverns. GMs, use this card to deepen your knowledge of Wyverns so you can add flavor to a classic monster that PCs often encounter.
